The collection is named after my grandmother from who we learned the values of
empathy, compassion and volunteerism. After receiving a grant last year from Startable
Pittsburgh, we started screen-printing our own t-shirts, canvas totes, and making our
own bath-salts. All the profits earned from selling our own handmade goods goes back
to the women artisans in form of interest free micro loans. The money allows the artisan
groups to acquire raw materials, tools, small machinery and help with expanding their
hiring practices and scaling their small businesses.
